Eczema clinical trials UK paid
Atopic Dermatitis (Eczema) affects millions of people around the globe, as an Eczema sufferer you are probably aware of the irritation, dry skin, and inflamed skin lesions that Eczema can cause. Whilst there are already numerous treatments available for Eczema, Covance continues to work in partnership with leading pharmaceutical companies to develop more effective treatments.
We carry out clinical trials on a variety of Eczema treatments, generally these include Antihistamines which are intended to relieve itching and inflammation. Corticosteroids, which contain steroid hormones, and antibiotics, intended to alleviate infections related to severe Eczema. We also carry out trials on topical treatments including Immunosuppressant’s which are used to treat severe Eczema. Immunosuppressant’s alleviate swelling by calming the body's overactive immune response.
Volunteer Requirements
Volunteer requirements for Eczema Clinical Trials vary from study to study. Some trials permit smokers, others do not. Generally the required age range is 18 - 65 and individual trials may require volunteers of a specific gender. A common requirement for all Eczema trials is that volunteers must have at least a five percent coverage of Eczema on their limbs or trunk, this is generally equal to a full hand span.
How Long Do Trials Last?
Eczema Trials vary in duration dependant on the nature of each study. Some trials last for three days, others require a longer commitment of six weeks or more. Covance volunteers are paid for the time they contribute, with the amount paid being dependant on the duration of the trial you take part in. We will also reimburse your travel costs up to a maximum of £100 dependent on the distance you have travel to get to our CRU in Leeds.
Why Do We Need Eczema Sufferers To Volunteer?
Volunteers are vital in the process of developing new treatments for Eczema, treatments that could potentially improve the quality of life experienced by millions of Eczema sufferers around the globe. Without volunteers it would not be possible to obtain the required licensing for effective new treatments, and make them available to those who need them. If you suffer with Eczema, and would like to get involved please call our recruitment team today on 0800 591 570 or browse our current studies online.
