Clinical Trial Unit Zurich

The Clinical Trials Center (CTC) is part of the Center for Clinical Research of the University and University Hospital Zurich. Its services support all research departments of the University Hospital Zurich and the Medical Faculty of the University of Zurich in the planning and conduct of their clinical trial projects in compliance with national and local laws (e.g. Swiss Federal Law on Therapeutic Products, CH HMG) and international Standards (e.g. Good Clinical Practice, GCP, of the ICH). The CTC's services are primarily intended to support academic and investigator-initiated research but can also be used by the pharmaceutical and med-tech industry for sponsored projects.

The CTC makes available infrastructure such as in- and out-patient units at the University Hospital Zurich with storage and logistics facilities for conducting clinical research projects. With the long standing experience of its staff in all aspects of clinical trials the CTC offers competent advice and a variety of services ranging from designing the trial management over quality assurance structures to the successful conduct and completion of a study. The scientific and medical staff of the CTC provides support and services in their field of expertise such as preparation of documents (informed consent, study protocols), exchange with ethical review boards and regulatory authorities, project- and data management, monitoring, data entry, quality management and medical writing. The CTC collaborates with both clinicians and basic researchers and is committed to supporting and conducting innovative clinical research projects relating to scientific ideas or inventions. The CTC is certified according to ISO 9001:2008.

The CTC is also an approved and certified center for Continuing and Further Education for medical and non-medical professionals interested in clinical research.
